One Man Can Make a Difference South Miami-Dade · Florida

Community

Four neighborhoods, one corridor, one promise.

Florida City, Goulds, Perrine and South Miami sit along the southern spine of Miami-Dade County. We are not a visiting organization. We work where the children live.

South Miami-Dade County, Florida

Why place matters

A child grows up inside a radius.

What is within walking distance shapes what feels possible. A library or a dark corner. A field or a fence. An adult who knows your mother, or nobody at all.

These are communities with deep roots, long memory and real strength — families who have held a place together across generations. Our job is not to explain them to themselves. It is to add something useful inside the radius a child already lives in.

So we work in the same few neighborhoods, year after year, instead of spreading thin. Being reliably present in four places beats being briefly visible in forty.

Where we serve

The four places.

Explore each neighborhood. These maps show community areas, not confirmed program sites or service boundaries.

01

Florida City

The southern end of Miami-Dade, where the county runs out into farmland and the road to the Keys. Families here live at a distance from much of the county, which makes anything local — a meal, a tutor, a ride — count twice.

02

Goulds

A historic Black community in unincorporated South Miami-Dade with generations of family roots in the same streets. We come as neighbors into a place that has long looked after its own.

03

Perrine

Just north along the same corridor, sharing schools, churches, parks and daily routes with Goulds. Children here move easily between the two, so our work does too.

04

South Miami

Further north on the corridor, a small city where real prosperity sits a few blocks from real need. Proximity to plenty is not the same as access to it — and that gap is exactly where a mentor, a meal and a field trip do their work.

What we bring

The same four things to every block.

  • Food and clothing where the need is
  • Tutoring from elementary through high school
  • Mentors who stay
  • Sport, trips and family gatherings

What changes from neighborhood to neighborhood is the logistics — which field, which hall, which hours, which families. What does not change is the standard of care.

Neighbors, not logos

Who we are looking for.

Most of what children need in these four neighborhoods already exists here. It just needs to be pointed in the same direction.

  • Schools and teachers
  • Churches and faith communities
  • Parks and recreation sites
  • Libraries
  • Local businesses
  • Grocers and food suppliers
  • Coaches and referees
  • Parents and grandparents

We do not list partner organizations, host sites or schedules on this site until each one is confirmed in writing, and we do not display any organization as a supporter or endorser without their express permission.
